Three Sparta High School Photography Students Win Ribbons at New Jersey State Fair
August 18, 2014---The SEF is proud to announce that three Sparta High School photography students were recognized for their work at the New Jersey State Fair in Augusta this month. Sparta High School photography teacher Christy Graham and art teacher Christine Mase encouraged the students to enter the county-wide competition, and they are proud to announce the results:
- Sydney Liebman won a First Place ribbon in the Adult category
- Molly Curly won a Best in Show ribbon in the Student category
- Kelly Carolan won a Third Place ribbon in the Student category
The SEF funded a grant in 2012 for a new photography and graphics printer at the high school, which in turn enabled these students to have professional-grade prints to enter in the fair's competition. This equipment has served hundreds of art and photography students since being installed, and it has given them the ability to learn about photographic printing and real-world techniques.
Christy Graham was thrilled for all her students, especially a recent graduate. "Sydney is one of the most talented photographers to walk through Sparta, and for her to graduate and then win First Place in the Adult category is just amazing... at only 18 she won the Adult category! I am so proud of her and know she will continue to make Sparta proud!"
Fellow award winners Molly Curly and Kelly Carolan will be sophomores when they return to Sparta High School in September. We would like to congratulate all three of these talented students, and wish them continued success in the future.
