Sparta Education Foundation Hosts Wine and Beer Tasting-Food Pairing

Sparta Education Foundation Wine Tasting held at Lake Mohawk home of Tom and Kylen Anderson

The Sparta Education Foundation (SEF) held its third annual Wine and Beer Tasting and Food Pairing fundraiser on September 20, which was graciously hosted by Tom and Kylen Anderson in their Lake Mohawk home. Over 70 people attended this year's event which also featured an assortment of gourmet food specially selected to pair with the wine and beer. All beverages were supplied by The Liquor Factory in Sparta, and Krave Café + Catering of Newton prepared the food.

"It was great to catch up with old friends and supporters as well as meet lots of new faces in crowd," said Danielle Dykstra, Vice President of the SEF. "The conversation was lively as everyone enjoyed wine and beer tastings from The Liquor Factory, which paired up perfectly with delicious food from Krave. The SEF would like to thank the Anderson family for their longstanding dedication the Foundation, Krave and The Liquor Factory for their continued partnership, and all of the guests for their support. We truly appreciate it, and we look forward to seeing everyone next year."

Among this year's notable guests were Sparta's Superintendent of Schools Dennis Tobin; Sparta Board of Education Vice President Doug McKernan; Sparta Board of Education Members Kylen Anderson and Kelly McEvoy; Sparta Town Council Member Gil Gibbs; Helen Morgan School Principal Doug Layman; and Mohawk Avenue School Principal Laura Trent. Also in attendance were Sparta Education Foundation sponsors including Jon Epstein of Royal Coachman Worldwide; Dawnice LaFave of Weichert, Realtors; Krave Café and Caterer; and The Liquor Factory. Additionally, numerous staff members from Sparta's public schools were well represented, as well as Florham Park School Superintendent Dr. Melissa Varley.

The Sparta Education Foundation has awarded over $598,887.00 in grants to all five of Sparta's public schools since 2006. The Foundation is an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to engage the entire community in philanthropic giving that strengthens the public schools, supports teachers, and inspires students.
