Sparta Education Foundation Welcomes New Student Liaisons
The Sparta Education Foundation (SEF) is pleased to welcome two Sparta High School students to their Student Liaison Program. Bayleigh Takacs, a junior, and Will McKenna, a senior, are actively involved in many school activities including membership in the Student Council.
The purpose of the SEF Student Liaison Program is to:
- Keep students informed about the SEF, grants and the availability of grant funding.
- Increase awareness about past and present grants the SEF has funded.
- Engage students to give their input about future grants.
- Encourage student participation in SEF fundraising projects and volunteer efforts.
"Our Student Liaison Program enables students to give back to our community as it encourages responsibility, promotes public speaking skills and creates pride in their school district," said Danielle Dykstra, President of the SEF. "Just as importantly, it gives them awareness of the grant process as well as valuable experience working with a non-profit organization. The Student Liaison Program keeps board members in tune with the academic needs of the students, helps us share new ideas, and allows us to gain firsthand insights about what engages our students."
The Sparta Education Foundation strengthens public schools, supports teachers and inspires students. Since 2006, they have donated over $775,000 in grants to all five of Sparta's public schools. The Foundation is an independent, non-profit, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to engage the entire community in philanthropic giving.
