The Sparta Education Foundation (SEF) won the Outstanding Community Event of the Year award for both the Krogh’s Turkey Trot and the Sparta Dragon Boat Festival at “A Toast to the Stars,” an awards dinner presented by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce held on May 9 at Perona Farms in Andover. The award presented was for conceiving, planning, and implementing an outstanding event for the Sussex County community.
“We are thrilled to receive this award which recognizes both of the community events that the Sparta Education Foundation hosts,” said Danielle Dykstra, President of the SEF. ” I would like to congratulate Kylen Anderson and Dorothy LaBeau, co-chairs of the Krogh’s Turkey Trot, and Nancy Purnell and Andy Garger, co-chairs of the Sparta Dragon Boat Festival, for their commitment and flawless execution.”
Dykstra was also grateful to the Chamber. “Many thanks to Sussex County Chamber of Commerce for selecting the SEF for this significant honor; we are grateful for the recognition among so many qualified nominees in this category and we are proud to be Chamber members,” she said. “We are very appreciative of the sponsors, volunteers and participants that make these community events memorable. In the end, the kids in the Sparta school district are the winners.”
